RALEIGH -- With warmer weather arriving and confirmed tornado touch downs in Wake County over the weekend, it's time for North Carolinians to make sure they have a plan to get to safety when severe weather strikes.

Nick Petro with the National Weather Service in Raleigh said one of the best ways to stay safe is to know what's coming.

Petro said, "You want to have a good awareness of what the weather forecast has in store. When there is a risk for severe thunderstorms, make sure you have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings. Just have that plan, and know where you're going to go when that warning is issued or when the severe weather approaches."

A tornado touched down in Willow Spring just before 9 p.m. Saturday and then moments later in Garner. There were no injuries.
