RALEIGH -- Severe weather pummeled parts of eastern North Carolina last week and now we are expecting more in the coming days. These storms have caused millions of dollars in damage and left homeowners looking for help. NC Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin advised residents should be wary of scammers.

Goodwin said, "We do know that it is a sad case that, after every major storm, you do have attempts at fraud and attempts to scam."

Goodwin added that homeowners should always ask for proper identification from those offering help and advised to never pay for repairs in cash. More information available at ncdoi.com.
