RALEIGH -- Republican Senator Richard Burr says he wants something done, sooner rather than later, about problems in the VA hospitals and clinics.

The issue has led to calls for the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki and criticism that President Barack Obama has not been engaged with the issue. Burr says this has been a problem long before falsified scheduled were noticed at veteran's clinics in Phoenix.

"The president for some reason wants to wait until the investigation in Phoenix is over to start to fix anything. This is ludicrous."

Burr issued an open letter to American's Veterans and gave credit to the president of the American Legion's National Commander for "taking a principled stand." and calling for leadership changes at the VA.
