DURHAM -- The Veteran's Administration has been under scrutiny in recent weeks amid allegations that officials were covering up long wait times for health care at VA hospitals around the country; allegations that cost VA Secretary Eric Shinseki his job. The Durham VA is one hospital being investigated. Deanne Seekins is the Director of the Durham facility, and she says they are working to improve wait times for veterans.

Seekins said, "If the audit identifies that there were access issues at that point in time, we have been addressing those for the last 18 - 20 months. So, there has been significant improvement in our access."

Seekins added that veterans were waiting an average of 35 days for treatment; which is down from 65 days last April.
