CHARLOTTE – How important is the U.S. Senate race in North Carolina on the national scene? One need look no further than who has been --- or who is still coming to the state to campaign, and raise cash, for Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan and Republican Challenger and State House Speaker Thom Tillis.

The latest big name to add to that list – someone who has not hidden her desire to be the next occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Hillary Clinton will join Hagan in Charlotte on Saturday an early vote event. The event will be at the Charlotte Convention Center and doors will open at 3:00 pm.  Free tickets for the event are being distributed in Charlotte Monday afternoon and Tuesday.

This comes weeks after former president Bill Clinton held a private fundraiser in Chapel Hill for Hagan. Hillary Clinton has not formally announced plans to run for president, but has been widely speculated to make a bid based upon the moves she’s been making.

As for Tillis, he has also brought in high profile members of the GOP in recent weeks, including former Republican presidential candidate Arizona Sen. John McCain this past week for a roundtable on security and an event earlier in the campaign with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
