RALEIGH -- Most of the Tar Heel state is off to a very mild start this week, as far as the weather goes, but that is all about to change. A weather pattern is moving from the Midwest and will bring cold temperatures to North Carolina, according to Jonathan Blaes with the National Weather Service.

Blaes said, "Coldest air of the season arrives, for Friday night we could have lows down into the upper-teens in some of the coldest spots. Probably more typically in the lower-to-mid 20's. And then, dry weather expected on Saturday. Before the next storm system arrives late on Sunday."

Blaes added that the system will be making its way over the mountains of North Carolina on Wednesday, although it is not expected to bring much - if any - precipitation.
