RALEIGH -- A meeting was held, on Tuesday morning, for the joint-legislative committee overseeing the Department of Health and Human Services to discuss projects in the department. Secretary Aldona Wos says one area that needs significant improvement is in record keeping.
Secretary Wos said, "I firmly believe that the function of the office of vital records is a fundamental responsibility of government, to properly preserve historical material and to provide our citizens with their birth and their death certificates."
Wos added that some of the technology in the department is decades behind the rest of the nation, and that they are working to upgrade the equipment.
