RALEIGH -- Thanks to technology, you now have more options for a safe ride home after a night of drinking. Organize a safe ride home, in the event that there is a party on the agenda this Labor Day weekend. New taxi services, such as Uber, widen the array of options for a safe ride home, in addition to opting for a designated driver.

LaRonda Scott, state executive director for Mothers Against Drunk Driving - North Carolina. says  while it may seem like a remote possibility to be impacted by drunk driving if none of your family or friends have, the risk becomes tragically real all too quickly.

"Drunk Driving doesn't affect you until it does. And I know

I get closer to having a story of my own and I deserve to see my children grow up."

Scott says it's important to make a plan on how you're getting home safely - before you start drinking. MADD is also backing a mandatory ignition interlock law for repeat drunk-driving offenders.
