(CHAPEL HILL) -- About 50 protesters at a meeting of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors made their voices heard against the appointment of the system's new president. Jarvis A. Hall is a professor at NC Central University - he spoke outside of the meeting about incoming system president Margaret Spellings.
"We must say no to Margaret Spellings because she is a clear and present danger to the great system that we have, the University of North Carolina system," Hall said.
Students and faculty were upset with the hire of Spellings which was announced by the board in October. They say there was not enough community involvement in the decision. Police allowed some protesters into the meeting, but they were quickly removed after an interruption.
