Wednesday, February 10th, marks a year since three young Muslim students were gunned down in Chapel Hill. This week, their family and friends are planning memorial events to honor them.

The killings sent shock waves throughout the world.

On February 10th, 2015, Deah Barakat, his wife Yusor Abu Salha and her sister, Razan Abu Salha, were shot and killed, just east of UNC, in the Finley Forest Condominiums.

The next day, police charged neighbor Craig Hicks with their murders.  He's in jail, waiting for trial.

On Wednesday at 6 P.M., friends and family plan to gather at N.C. State's Stafford Commons for  a "Day of Light" candlelight and prayer.

On Thursday at 7 P.M. they will honor the three with poetry, images and video, at N.C. State's Stewart Theatre.
