John Locke Foundation: Offshore Drilling Could Drop Gas Prices |

(RALEIGH) -- A poll done by Elon University indicates a majority of people in North Carolina support offshore drilling and some expect it to bring down prices. Almost 70 percent of those responding to Elon University’s poll last week said they support offshore drilling. Some said it would lead to lower prices at the pump in one to five years, others said six to ten years.
Doctor Roy Cordato with the conservative John Locke Foundation says speculators would bring down the price almost immediately. He also says the next Governor would have to pay attention to that much support. Cordato says it would give eastern North Carolina a great economic boost. |
