Biltmore Avenue fire determined arson

(ASHEVILLE) -- Investigators have determined the fire at 445 Biltmore Avenue about a week ago was intentionally set. ATF Charlotte Field Division spokesman Earl Woodham says the case is being treated as an arson and homicide investigation.

Asheville Fire Department Captain Jeff Bowen died after responding to the fire. Woodham says the fire was set in the fifth floor of the building. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to call either Crimestoppers at 255-5050, the ATF Arson Hotline at 888-ATF-FIRE or the SBI at 800-334-3000.
