(RALEIGH) -- A daylong conference in Raleigh put the focus on childhood hunger. Former Congresswoman Eva Clayton, an honorary co-chair of No Kid Hungry North Carolina, said when children do not get sufficient food, it does more than just impact their health.

"Our state and nation should commit to ending childhood hunger because it is morally the right thing to do.  We also should eliminate it because it is also the economical thing to do," said Clayton.

The group finds that North Carolina ranks among the top 15 states in the country in households with children that face food hardship. No Kid Hungry North Carolina finds that 1 in 4 children in the state do not get sufficient nutrition.
