(GREENSBORO) -- Orange County Democrat Bill Faison made it official Saturday morning - he's in the race for governor. He's the second Democrat to declare, along with Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton.

Faison says part of his plan to get the state going again economically is in a sales tax plan. "It would be used to fully fund Medicaid and S-CHIP, which helps people who are disadvantaged and children who are disadvantaged. It does this in a fairly painless fashion, just a little bitty contribution from folks to do a great deal of good," Faison says.

Faison predicted months ago that Governor Bev Perdue would not seek a second term.
