RALEIGH - Highway Patrol, ALE and Wildlife Resources Commission are combining forces over Labor Day Weekend for Operation “On the Road, On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive."

State Highway Patrol 1st Sergeant Jeff Gordon says the Wildlife Resources Commission will be conducting patrols on waterways, looking for impaired boaters.

"Of course the high way patrol, and [The North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement] will be out on the roadway Just making sure that everyone is having a good time, yet being safe while you're out there."

Various driving while impaired checkpoints near parks and water recreational areas across the state will begin Saturday and continue until Monday at midnight.
