RALEIGH -- North Carolina was a political hotbed in 2013, with vastly opposing views causing debate on major issues. The North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research's Ran Coble says North Carolinians approved of legislators requiring drug testing of welfare recipients and requiring a photo ID to vote. But Coble adds it's not all positive for the General Assembly.
Coble says, "Polls have consistently said we don't like some of those other changes in election laws. You've got polls showing support for early voting from Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. They don't like that change. They opposed eliminating same-day registration and eliminating the ability to vote a straight ticket."
Coble added he expects to see teacher tenure and teacher pay on the 2014 agenda. Coble was a guest on a recent edition of Carolina Newsmakers with Don Curtis.
