RALEIGH -- Refineries in the United States are producing higher amounts of crude oil, and that is just one factor that has led to lowered gas prices across the country. Angela Vogel Daley of AAA Carolinas said the price fell in the Tar Heel state from the record high set in 2012.

According to Vogel Daley, "For 2013 North Carolina Motorists paid less than they had since 2010. The average was $3.43, which was down 13-cents from 2012."

Vogel Daley added Asheville saw the highest average price in North Carolina for 2013, while the lowest was in Fayetteville.
