WAKE FOREST -- Five people have been charged in a kidnapping that ended with an elite FBI team rescuing the victim at an apartment complex in Atlanta.  Frank Arthur Janssen of Wake Forest, North Carolina, was taken from his home five days ago.  FBI Special Agent in charge of the investigation, John Strong, says Janssen may have been targeted because of his daughter's work as a prosecutor on drug and gang cases.  The ransom involved a felon serving life without parole.

Special Agent Strong said, "Specific demands were sent to Mr. Janssen's family for the benefit of Kelvin Melton, an inmate at the Polk Correctional Institution in Butner, North Carolina. Melton was previously prosecuted by Frank Janssen's daughter, who is an Assistant District Attorney."

According to court documents, Janssen returned from a bike ride Saturday, when a woman came to his front door. He answered and was assaulted by several people who used a Taser to subdue him. They put him in a car, drove him to Georgia, and began sending demands by text message. Some threatened to kill him and other family members. One text included a picture of Janssen tied to a chair.

The investigation is ongoing.
