RALEIGH -- North Carolina has been the movie hub of the east coast in recent years, with blockbusters like Iron Man 3 being filmed in the Tar Heel state. But incentives for filmmakers are set to expire at the end of the year, unless new legislation is passed. Ed Martin, of Business NC Magazine, says a new incentives plan may be slightly less than previous years.

Martin said, "New report a couple of weeks ago, and I think it pegs the amounts of incentives for last year at about $244 million. So it may drop just a little bit this year, but it's still going to be very strong."

Many other states are joining in the arms race to offer incentives to the film industry.

Martin and other experts expect the films incentives to be apart of the itinerary for the legislative short session convening on Wednesday.
