RALEIGH -- Governor McCrory signed legislation on Thursday, that helps military service members and veterans get certified more quickly in fields they've already been working in, such as law enforcement and the medical field.

"We need to welcome home our military members from Iraq and Afghanistan and help get them a job."

The law goes into effect January 1st. North Carolina is home to more than 800-thousand veterans and currently has the nation's third largest military population.
