WINSTON-SALEM -- The beginning of the school year can be a hectic time for all family members, not just students.  Dr. Cecelia Marshall, a psychologist at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, says there are many stress triggers including, school work, getting good grades, as well as popularity.

Dr. Marshall said, "In terms of the immediate concerns of starting school, would be social issues. If not outright bullying, teasing, being left out - that's probably an initial concern."

Dr. Marshall says parents need to know how to build communication with their children so it's there when they need it.  And she says start with the small things so kids will feel comfortable discussing the bigger issues.
