DURHAM -- President Obama is trying to play down the talk of pending U.S. action in Syria. Obama said Thursday, there is no strategy yet concerning a response to the Islamic state group.

Bruce Jentleson professor of public policy and political science at Duke University outlines what a plan may look like,

"Nobody should be thinking that there is an easy solution, but the time has come to really start limiting their advances, inflicting some damage, limiting their capabilities and building a coalition to try to contain them and take it from there."

The U.S. is already striking militant targets in Iraq, and administration officials have said similar action in neighboring Syria is being considered.
