(RALEIGH) -- Republican U.S. Senator Thom Tillis says he still wants answers about the future and possible shutdown of the 440th Airlift Wing at Pope Airfield.
He said, "I have asked this question for nearly eight weeks, and it's a simple question. Show me the method and the data you used to justify this decision."
Tillis says he will continue to require Air Force leaders to be more transparent with the public and Congress regarding their decision-making, and hold them accountable for decisions that lack a strategic justification.
The Air Force is required by law to release a report on C-130 movements, which would include plans to remove the planes belonging to the 440th Airlift Wing on Fort Bragg's Pope Field. But that report, due in January, has yet to be released.
