RALEIGH-- Many are talking about the recent Supreme Court ruling upholding Obamacare and Same-Sex Marriage. A recent poll, found some 22 percent of North Carolinians believed the Supreme Court was more liberal compared to a 16 percent nationally.

Elon Poll Director Kenneth Fernandez says although it is quite split there is some evidence it leans more conservatively. He says it is hard for the average individual to assess the court objectively.

"In some cases I think they look at the black robes and they go yes these are some very smart individuals that weigh in very carefully about these issues. But they also realize the complexity of how these are appointed by political presidents who are associated with a particular political party," he says.

Fernandez says due to some court rulings North Carolinians see the court as more liberal. He says the plurality said the court saw the court as middle of the road.
