RALEIGH -- With more than 240 farmers markets of all sizes across the state, if you want it they've got it. North Carolina's Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler says N.C. produces over 125,000 acres of fruits and vegetables each year.
But he says there is more at these markets than just food.
“We’re talking about fresh fruits and vegetables, but we have meats, cheeses and all kinds of agriculture products that you can imagine. And if you watch people at our regional farmers markets its kind of a social thing to go to the farmers market and visit, talk to the vendors, talk to the people,” he says.
Troxler told SFNTODAY.com these markets give you the unique experience to actually talk and ask questions to the people who grew your food.
You can visit NCfarmfresh.com to search for a market near you.
