RALEIGH -- A woman was killed during the severe weather system that blew through central North Carolina yesterday. 50-year-old Cheryl Harrison and two of her family members were walking along a greenway when they were struck by a falling tree limb. Harrison was stuck by a large portion of the tree. She was taken to WakeMed, where she later died. The two family members suffered minor injuries.

Duke Energy says at the peak of the storm there were over 46,000 residents without power, and they are continuing to work on restoring all of those outages. As of, Sunday afternoon less than 1,400 people people in central North Carolina were still waiting for the power switch to be flipped back on.
