RALEIGH -- The Affordable Care Act has caused discussion since the law was introduced in 2010, and now US Republican Senator Richard Burr is one of three GOP Senators introducing an alternative to Obamacare. Senator Burr says this new plan will place the emphasis back on the individual.

According to Senator Burr, "We offered a blueprint for a way forward. Where it's patient-centric, where individuals make their choice, where people at 300% of federal poverty and below have a tax credit that accesses the private sector insurance. And we do it without individual or corporate mandates."

The bill was put forward by Burr along with Republican Senators Orrin Hatch of Utah and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.
